Celebrating 60 years, Junior Achievement based their annual Bowl-A-Thon around a Birthday Party theme. LCJ staff enjoys having fun and helping the community; so several L Calvin Jones employees, family & friends made up a team. They bowled February 11th at Wedgewood Lanes in Austintown. Giant birthday candles, a birthday cake, confetti, streamers and balloons made up the decorations the team put together to enhance their involvement. “Every year we participate we want to get more involved. We have a blast!” stated one of the team members. JA of Mahoning Valley’s goal this year is to raise $25,000 to help provide economic education programs to 9,000 Mahoning Valley Students. Just at the one event, the 21 teams, together, raised over $6,000. In addition to raising funds, Mark Zeidenstein, one of LCJ partners, has volunteered his time to give business classes to some students. Being a businessman himself, Mark realizes the importance to mentoring today’s youth.
LCJ wishes Junior Achievement of Mahoning Valley great success in this year’s endeavor. Anyone interested in helping JA of Mahoning Valley can contact Michele Merkel 330-539-5268 or jamvmichele@onecom.com
