Our History
L. Calvin Jones & Company was started in 1911
by Mr. Will B. Jones, who named the company after his son, L. Calvin
Jones. The company was formed to handle fidelity and surety bonds
exclusively. In 1917, the firm opened a Property and Casualty
insurance division. Shortly after World War II, L. Calvin’s two
sons, Richard and Robert, joined the agency and carried on their
father’s dream until their retirement in the mid 1970’s.
While their retirement marked the end of the founding family’s
involvement in the agency, the principles for which they were most
proud still carry on today. Those principles of integrity and
professionalism continue to be the operating philosophy of our
agency and we believe these are the main reasons another local
agency recently chose to join us.
In
January 2001, the John B. Booth & Company along with its owner,
Shirley Davis, and all of her employees joined our team to form the
largest independently owned and operated agency in the tri-county
area.
Our
agency stresses expertise in every category of insurance,
specializing in contractors, manufacturers,
wholesalers/distributors, and “Main Street” businesses. We are
recognized throughout the country as one of the most elite surety
bond specialists.
Through separate, specialized divisions we offer alternative risk
financing for large commercial risks as well as standard business
insurance, personal insurance (i.e. homeowners, personal auto,
etc.), employee benefits and financial planning.
In
closing, we believe the future is very bright for those who
understand that you should treat your customers as you would like to
be treated. Go beyond the expected.
